When we were asked to help Kyoya Hotels tell the story of their four Oahu properties through the eyes of their employees that truth became so much more real.
Our initial task was to identify eight awesome people who unique stories that would embody the values, culture and diversity four of Oahu’s most prestigious hotels. Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Moana Surfrider, Sheraton Waikiki and Sheraton Princess Kaiulani.
Moana Surfrider:
Aaron Mizushima
With an undying desire to share the Aloha spirit, Aaron Mizushima, Massage Therapist at the Moana Lani Spa puts his unconditional love into everything that he does. From capturing the perfect wave through his lens to his lomilomi massage you will feel his Aloha. Discover Aaron’s favorite areas around Oahu.
Sheraton Waikiki:
Shaun Ono
Meet Shaun Ono, Assistant Director of Rooms at Sheraton Waikiki. Experience the local Hawaii spots that Shaun is inspired by as he experiences Hawaii’s culture as a hula dancer and shares what Hawaii means to him with our visitors.
Sheraton Princess Kaiulani:
David Komine
Ride the waves and taste the salty air, just like David Komine, Pool Attendant at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani. David was one of the few Polynesian Society crew members who sailed aboard the Hokule’a upon its’ voyage to Tahiti. The Polynesians who first discovered these islands were terrific navigators aboard canoes similar to the Hokule’a. David’s love for the ocean doesn’t stop when he’s back on the island! Experience Oahu’s rich history through David’s favorite island activities.

Sheraton Princess Kaiulani:
Kapena Richards
Kapena Richardson, Front Office Manager at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani, has been cooking traditional Hawaiian food with his family since he was a young child. As the fourth generation to cater events and charity functions, Kapena proudly takes on the kuleana of keeping the traditions and knowledge alive. He takes this pride and Aloha Spirit to work with him every day where his goal at the end of every day is to make a positive impact on our guests.
Sheraton Waikiki:
Michael Capua
As a child, Michael Capua, Journeyman Mechanic at the Sheraton Waikiki, grew up running around the Sheraton Waikiki and the Royal Hawaiian, a Luxury Collection as he waited for his mom to finish work. Now, over 40 years later, Michael follows in his family’s footsteps as he continues to call this special place that he works too home.
